The quick comparison
| Photo booth | Roaming photographer | |
|---|---|---|
| Best for | Props, group selfies, instant prints | Speeches, candids, team photo, atmosphere |
| Who's in the photos | Guests who choose to queue | Everyone, across the whole evening |
| Image quality | Fixed set-up, same backdrop | Professional, varied, edited |
| Usable for comms and recruitment | Rarely | Yes, with full commercial rights |
| Space needed | About 3m × 3m plus a queue | None; we move with the room |
When a photo booth makes sense
For pure fun, with props and printed strips, a booth is great value. It won't capture speeches, awards or the atmosphere of the room.
When a roaming photographer is the better choice
For photos you'll actually use (leadership, winners, the team photo, natural moments), choose a roaming photographer. Everyone ends up in the gallery, not just those who queue.
The hybrid many teams choose
A lit portrait corner for 30–45 minutes during drinks, then roaming for the rest of the night. Professional portraits and the full story, from one supplier.
Our recommendation
- Under 40 guests: 2 hours of roaming coverage is usually enough
- 40–150 guests with speeches: 4 hours, covering the reception through to awards
- Want props and prints too? Book the booth, and reduce photographer coverage to the first 2 hours
Candid, roaming coverage
